Continuing with one of our favorite designers, Ian Callum, we bring you the 2013 F-TYPE I test drove in Spain. This was a lofty goal designing the answer to the famed E-TYPE. The moment Frank Sinatra laid his eyes on the E-TYPE at its 1961 unveiling, he said, “I want that car, and I want it now.”

So began Hollywood’s love affair with the iconic English sports car. Enzo Ferrari called it “the most beautiful car ever made.” Those are big shoes to fill for any successor nearly four decades later. The Jaguar F-Type (X152) is a series two-door, two-seater sports cars/grand tourers manufactured by British luxury car manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover under their Jaguar Cars marque since 2013.

The car’s JLR D6a platform is based on a shortened version of the XK’s platform. It is the replacement for the XK grand tourer and so-called “spiritual successor” to the famous E-Type. The car was launched initially as a 2-door soft-top convertible, with a 2-door fastback coupé version launched in 2013.

A refresh of the F-Type for the 2021 model year was unveiled in December 2019, featuring a redesigned exterior and dashboard, and simplified drivetrain options.
